Heritage and Roots

The Balmuir story began in 2007 in Northern Finland, where nature is an integral part of everyday life and transforms with the changing seasons. Balmuir was born out of love for savoir-faire, finest natural materials and timeless classics.

With its strong roots in the North, in the Oulu region, Balmuir is proud to celebrate Finland as a home of beautifully crafted, high-quality design.

Among Balmuir’s first products were the Helsinki scarf, the Aurora Kid Mohair throw and a linen textile collection – all of which remain part of the collection to this day.

The Story Continues

Since 2019, the story of Balmuir has continued under the ownership of Luhta Sportswear Company - Finland’s largest clothing industry company operating globally, celebrating its 120-year journey in 2027.

The year 2019 marked also the beginning of a new chapter in Balmuir history, when the brand’s first clothing line was introduced under BMuir label.

Our aim is to inspire our customers and invite them to enjoy Balmuir, and the quality and comfort of our products.

We aspire to create an elevated and harmonious experience, from our collections and events to personal encounters.

Balmuir has four stores, where we host inspiring events, including Fashion Night evenings. Our online store, serving customers in Finland and internationally, brings beloved Balmuir pieces closer to you, while offering inspiration through our latest fashion and home collections.

The first Balmuir Brand Store opened in Oulu in 2017, followed by our flagship Balmuir Brand Store Helsinki in summer 2018. Our third brick-and-mortar store opened at Helsinki Outlet in autumn 2019, and in 2022, we opened the beautiful Balmuir Concept Store Helsinki Airport.

Balmuir has partners both internationally and in Finland, with Stockmann among our largest retail partners in Finland.

Balmuir collaborates with experts in their respective fields, including stylists and interior designers. We also work extensively with some of Finland’s leading fashion, home and lifestyle influencers through inspiring brand collaborations.

The selection of Balmuir’s manufacturing partners and our sourcing practices are guided by the Group’s Code of Conduct and sustainability policies.

In accordance with our Supplier & Partner Code of Conduct, we expect our partners to commit to our shared values and to the principles and requirements we have set for human rights, animal welfare, environmental responsibility, and chemical restrictions.

Our products are primarily made through long-lasting manufacturing partners. Partners are selected based on their expertise in manufacturing, commitment to quality, and specialised knowledge of specific materials.
